Introduction on NanoLuc Luciferase Technology
| |Nano Luc is an enabling platform technology upon which Promega develops additional assay solutions for difficult biology. This technology showed its value to viral delivery and protein fusion applications. Nano Luc Luciferase brings good sensitivity to reporter assays and other bioluminescence applications.
Nano Luc technology includes a novel substrate, furimazine developed by Promega organic chemists. It is extremely small in size and permits enhanced viral delivery and protein fusion applications. It is easily secreted from cells. The enzyme performs better in hard to transfect cells because it is two orders of magnitude brighter than firefly and renilia reniformis. It works in complex biological samples. To meet the present day requirements in life science research, 12 plasmid versions of Luciferase are available. Luciferase also has certain physical properties which make it a great reporter protein.
Nano Luc luciferase is a small enzyme created for optimal performance as a luminescent reporter. It is about 100-fold brighter than firefly (Photinus pyralis) or Renilla reniformis. The luminescent reaction is ATP-independent and suppresses background luminescence for maximal assay sensitivity. Recent advances in life science research were instrumental for many discoveries and NanoLuc is one among those.
